About Our Exhibitions

Juried Exhibitions

With three outstanding annual juried exhibitions – photography, works on paper and watercolor – Perkins Center for the Arts offers regional artists working in a wide variety of mediums wonderful opportunities to have their work seen, not only by the viewing public, but also by curators from prestigious institutions and regional galleries. Our annual purchase prizes, awarded to artists featured in the photography and works on paper exhibitions, enable exhibitors to have their work considered for inclusion in important museum collections. Two artists from our annual watercolor exhibition are awarded solo shows at the Medford Leas Gallery, Medford, NJ.

Our slide presentations, exhibition tours and other special exhibition-related activities (workshops, panel discussions, etc.) provide wonderful learning experiences for the viewing public.

Curator's Choice Exhibition

Every year, during the month of November, Perkins Center mounts a Curator's Choice invitational exhibition at the Moorestown gallery. Specific artists – as few as 2 and as many as 70 – are selected for a theme-related show. This year's Curator's Choice exhibition is unique because it's the Center's first "double venue exhibition" – to be mounted at both our Moorestown and Collingswood galleries – and it includes over 100 artists. Entitled Pink at Perkins: The Contradictory Character of a Complex Color, it will feature work in a wide variety of mediums.

Members and Faculty Exhibition

The Perkins Center for the Arts annual June exhibition features work by artists who are part of our staff, faculty or membership. It is a diverse exhibition that includes work in a variety of mediums, among them ceramic, photography, watercolor, pastel, gouache, oil, acrylic, crayon, pen, pencil, fiber and digital art.

Watercolor Exhibition

Please note that the annual Watercolor exhibition has been postponed until 2009.

Skillfully composed, playful collages of the Men of the Market (Philadelphia's Italian Market vendors) are created by Dolores Poacelli and impressionistic figures in mixed media are captured by Marian Spirn.
